STORING YOUR JEWELLERY
Protect your jewellery from scratching, denting, chemicals, direct sunlight and excessive heat/cold by storing it appropriately. Pieces of jewellery can become scratched when they come into contact with one another. Each piece should be stored individually, preventing tangles and reducing scratching and damage.
We recommend that you store your jewellery pieces individually in the Majesty Jewellers case that you were given at the time the purchase. Keep your jewellery somewhere dry, with low humidity.
PROLONGING YOUR JEWELLERY'S LIFE
Consider your daily activities when choosing your jewellery. We recommend that you remove your jewellery when gardening, playing sport or at the beach. Harsh chemicals may damage your pieces, therefore avoid wearing jewellery when swimming or cleaning.
Avoid contact with nail polish remover, perfume or hairspray. For this reason, jewellery should be the last thing on and the first thing off. We advise cleaning your jewellery regularly with professionals products, ensuring that you follow the manufacturer's instructions. Once a year, return your Majesty Jewellers jewellery to us along with your invoice number for professional cleaning or take it to your local jewellers.
Protecting your gem set jewellery
Take care to protect your jewellery from impact against hard surfaces. Even a diamond can chip if hit with enough force and at the right angle. Gemstones such as amethyst, emerald, kunzite, opal, pear, peridot, tanzanite and tourmaline are very delicate and easily abraded. Before putting on your piece of jewellery, examine it for a moment.
Check that the stones are secure and don't rattle; gently shake your piece of jewellery close to your ear. Please also check that the settings of the stones have not moved; gently rub your piece of jewellery against a thin cloth to ensure that claws are not catching. Ensure that your gem-set Majesty Jewellers jewellery is checked at least once a year by returning it to us or at your local jewellers.
CARING FOR GEMSTONES
Gemstones are precious and they do require care and attention. Certain coloured stones, such as emerald, can crack if they are allowed to become dry. For this reason, they should be re-oiled every two or three years. For further advice on caring for your precious stones, please speak to one of our sales consultants.
PEARLS NEED SPECIAL ATTENTION
Pearls are relatively soft and can scratch easily, especially if stores with other jewellery. Avoid spraying perfume or other strong chemicals on to your pearls, and keep them away from direct heat. When cleaning your pearls, refrain from using any strong detergents. Instead, keep them clean by wiping them with a dry, lint-free fabric.
Keep your pearls in a soft pouch made of chamois, silk, leather or another non-abrasive material. Never store pearls in a plastic bag. We recommend having your pearls restring fairly regularly.
